About The Event

Willy Vlautin is the acclaimed, award-winning author of five novels. He is celebrated for his singular ability to fathom the lives, hopes, and fears of the dispossessed, the lonely, and the desperate; with uncommon compassion, he brings into stark relief the undercurrent of dread that, for many, is the constant companion of contemporary life.

Vlautin’s novels are “clean as a bone, companionable, and profound” (Sarah Hall), and his new novel The Night Always Comes is no exception. A heart wrenching portrait of a woman hungry for security and a home in a rapidly changing city, The Night Always Comes asks how far we are really prepared to go to achieve the American Dream, and is the American dream even attainable for those living at the edges?
